Summary

This program will center on how students at the Discovery School will be conducting reliable research by learning from the experts! Discovery School librarian Sarah Svarda will engage 4-6 grade students in studying the research processes of children's nonfiction authors to learn their best research practices. During the program, Ms. Svarda, and Middle Tennessee Writing Project directors Dr. Ron Kates and Dr. Ellen Donovan will share real-life applications of the processes the Discovery School students will use in taking the practices of the mentor authors and applying them to their own research. In addition to featuring video of the Discovery School students, the presenters will also engage a studio audience of current and pre-service educators in techniques related to the mentor author process.
